Brewer Science Thanks The Congressional Delegation

Jul 4, 2002

Brewer Science enthusiastically recognizes and thanks the Missouri Congressional Delegation for its strong support of research and development projects at Brewer. The work done on behalf of Brewer Science by the Missouri Congressional Delegation was a team effort involving Representatives Jo Ann Emerson and Roy Blunt, and Senators Christopher Bond and Jean Carnahan. The Missouri Congressional Delegation worked with the Congress to provide research and development funding for projects to aid the Department of Defense and the future Department of Homeland Security. These projects will benefit the Company, and the people of central Missouri.

Today's announcement only makes us more thankful that we have a congressional delegation in Missouri that has worked with us to bring the very best technology and products that we have to offer to meet the needs of our military and to counteract threats to our national security."… President Terry Brewer said.

The Missouri Congressional Delegation actively supported a series of projects that will provide innovative technologies and products to both the military and commercial markets. Projects include $4M in continued funding for the next generation of bottom anti-reflective coatings (Brewer's core business), $3.5M in continued funding for the development of wafer-scale planarization and printing technology, $3.5M in funding for the development of high-resolution color imaging technology, and $2M in funding for the development of carbon-based chemical and biological warfare sensors (sensor project in partnership with Southwest Missouri State University).

The funding for projects obtained through congressional appropriations will enable Brewer to accelerate research and development activities in these key areas and deliver technology and products in support of the military, homeland security and the semiconductor industry. Brewer will continue to rapidly grow through innovative R&D and commercialization of products in a global marketplace, and will continue to add high-technology jobs in central Missouri. Brewer is currently building a new R&D center to support technology and product development activities in Rolla. Brewer currently employs 287 people in Rolla and at sales/service offices throughout the U.S., the United Kingdom, and China.
