October 9, 2012 – Brewer Science, Inc., views protecting the environment as a company mission, and we put that mission into action over the weekend of September 22nd with a successful electronics and appliance recycling drive that took hundreds of unwanted items off the hands of Missourians who wish to recycle responsibly.
Brewer Science partnered with the City of Rolla, Phelps County Commission, Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Meramec Regional Planning Commission to provide a one-stop recycling location to drop off unwanted electronics and appliances.
This collection diverted 56,000 pounds of electronic waste from landfills to be recycled. While the majority of recyclers were from Phelps county, recyclers from Crawford, Dent, Maries and Gasconade counties also benefited from the event.
Hundreds of citizens participated in the recycling collection, leaving behind unwanted or outdated items including 91 computers, 12 laptops, 73 printers, 42 keyboards and 33 microwave ovens. The items were dropped off for recycling at the Brewer Science campus in Rolla, Missouri.
“As a critical supplier to the industries manufacturing technology products, Brewer Science has a deep commitment to the environment. In addition to our care for the environment as we manufacture our products, we also work with others to safeguard our environment and provide a healthy, safe community,” said Dr. Terry Brewer, President and CEO of Brewer Science. “This recycling event is one of the many ways we demonstrate our care for the environment to our customers and to our community.”
The reduction of electronic waste is just one of the initiatives Brewer Science has taken to protect our environment. Over the past 9 years Brewer Science has diverted over 375 tons of waste from landfills. Partnership collections have helped the community properly dispose of more than 344 tons of waste electronics, appliances and tires over the last 9 years.
