Brewer Science ‘Team Up for Science’ 5K Raises Money for Science Classrooms at Belle and Vienna Schools

Sep 20, 2013

September 20, 2013 – Rolla, MO – Dr. Terry Brewer, founder and CEO of Brewer Science, today presented school administrators from the Belle and Vienna schools with $3,000 each for their science programs. These donations, arriving just as Missouri students were returning to their classrooms, were raised as part of Brewer Science’s “Team Up For Science” 5K Run/Walk held on August 3.

The event raised $3,000 for local science classrooms, considered to be a very good beginning for the debut of a new benefit event. Brewer Science, which has long championed science education in Missouri’s public schools, matched that amount for a total of $6,000 in private funding for the two schools.

“We were positively thrilled by how the community came together to team up for science,” said Dr. Brewer. “By giving teachers and administrators additional tools and resources to expand and improve their science programs, this funding will help inspire their students to consider a career in science and technology.”

Earlier this year, Brewer Science, which is headquartered in Rolla, broke ground on a new facility in neighboring Maries County, not far from the Belle and Vienna schools. “The expansion of Brewer Science into Maries County was an ideal time for the community to get to know our company and, more importantly, for us to get to know them," Dr. Brewer said. “Both long-time employees and interns from Brewer Science used our intern program principles – teamwork, communication, cooperation, and collaboration – to meet the community members and to help others.”

The Science Family Fun Day, sponsored by Brewer Science, included the 5K run/walk event plus entertainment featuring carnival food, a hayride, a nature walk, and science experiments at Prairie Star Restoration Farm.
