Brewer Science Statement on Committee Passage of Blunt-Brown Advanced Manufacturing Bill
April 9, 2014 – Rolla, Mo. – Dr. Terry Brewer, president and founder of Brewer Science, today issued the following statement following the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation’s passage of the bipartisan Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act (S.1468):
“This is a great step forward toward passage of this landmark legislation which will help revitalize manufacturing in Missouri and across the country. We appreciate Senator Blunt’s leadership and vision to help ensure the United States is the global leader in advanced manufacturing.”
This legislation, supported by Brewer Science and other leaders in Missouri, would create a new public-private partnership between the federal government, local governments, universities, research institutes, and industry. The bill would help accelerate manufacturing innovation in technologies with commercial applications by leveraging resources to bridge the gap between basic research performed at U.S. universities and research laboratories and product development conducted by U.S. manufacturers. The initiative would establish manufacturing institutes known as the Network of Manufacturing Innovation (NMI). This network of hubs would focus American efforts on developing and producing the next generation of manufactured products.
Brewer Science specializes in advanced manufacturing technology that has made smartphones, tablet computers, and other devices smaller, thinner, lighter, and more powerful. The products Brewer Science designs and produces in Missouri make possible these manufactured devices we use to complete ever-higher levels of tasks at faster speeds. In conjunction with the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), Brewer Science believes the proposed legislation would enable America to succeed in a global economy increasingly fueled by innovative technology.
