Procesing Equipment FAQs

Answers to frequently asked questions from our Processing Equipment Team

Does Brewer Science have spin chucks available which will allow me to spin coat multiple sizes within the same spin coater?

Yes. Brewer Science offers many options that will quickly allow you to change from one substrate size or shape to another. Brewer Science currently has over 400 different spin chuck designs, for virtually any size, shape, or material. We have mechanical engineers on staff to create custom spin chucks for a wide array of customer-specific needs. Customized chucks can be specified to accommodate chemically compatible materials and different substrate sizes, thicknesses, and shapes. Sizes range from < 1 cm through 14 inches square.

Is it possible to integrate automatic material dispense with my Brewer Science® Cee® spin coater?

Yes. Brewer Science offers many automatic dispense options for a wide range of material viscosities and volumes. Automatic dispense can enhance accuracy and reproducibility of demanding spin-coating applications. Popular dispense options include intelligent dispense pumps (IDI/CYBOR), cartridges, pressure cans, and disposable syringes. All options are compatible with both static and dynamic dispensing techniques.

How many spin-coating recipes am I able to store on my Brewer Science® Cee® spin coater?

The latest Cee® X-series equipment features 2.0 GB of flash card memory and allows for a virtually unlimited number of recipes. Assuming every spin recipe contains 100 active steps, the standard flash card could store up to 250,000 recipes.

Does the Brewer Science® Cee® equipment line offer bake plates with optional programmable (multiple) lift pin heights above the working surface?

Yes. Our programmable electronic lift pins are a very popular option and provide the user with 1000 specific proximity heights above the surface in any sequence or combination. The heights are programmed in 0.001" increments with an overall operating window from 0.001" through 0.750". In some scenarios, this option allows for faster temperature ramping acceleration/deceleration and emulates several bake plates simultaneously.

Are Brewer Science® Cee® spin coaters, bake plates, and developers capable of being integrated into a wet bench or fume hood (flush mount)?

Yes. Brewer Science® offers wet-bench-compatible, flange-mounted modules for all 200-mm coaters, hot plates, developers, and combination equipment. Customers can choose from either a deck-mountable stationary display or a remote display control box (with umbilical cord). We also have a long history of working with many of the industry’s leading wet-bench manufacturers.

Did you know…?

Brewer Science® Cee® spin coaters feature a unique indirect spindle drive that protects the spin motor from accidental contact with process chemicals and solvents. This design feature sets Brewer Science® Cee® products apart from all other market competitors and significantly increases mean time between failures (MTBF) and decreases cost of ownership (COO).

Did you know…?

Brewer Science® Cee® bake plates lead the industry in temperature uniformity, with ±0.3% temperature variation across the working surface. They have been designed specifically for the utmost accuracy, which is required in e-beam, X-ray, and advanced lithography. These products allow three separate baking methods including vacuum, gravity, and N2 proximity baking as standard features.
