Brewer Science has developed a new approach to the preparation of hybrid coating systems that avoids the problems associated with nanoparticle and sol-gel technologies. In our approach, the high index metal oxide component forms spontaneously during the curing process of the coating, leaving the polymer and metal oxide phases at a near molecular-level of interdispersion. The resulting coatings have refractive indices ranging from 1.65 to as high as 2.15 depending on the metal oxide loading. High refractive index polymer materials currently in development by Brewer Science might be used in applications such as:
For Electron Beam applications Brewer Science offers PMMA solutions. To improve ease of use, safety and aroma, these products are available in spin-bowl compatible solvents. For special applications, such as T-gates, Brewer Science offers the co-polymer PMMA/MMA in a liquid solution. Developers for these materials are also available.
In addition to T-gate fabrication, PMMA may also be used in applications such as:
Brewer Science sells two PMMA Resists having different molecular weights (MW). The high MW resist is 950k and the lower MW resist is STD (approximately 450k). These resists can be purchased in either a Monochlorobenzene or a Spin Bowl Compatible solvent system.
Brewer Science is the sole distributor for Nissan Chemical Industries' alignment coatings throughout North America (customers located outside North Amercia may click here to contact Nissan Chemical Industries direct). Nissan Chemical is one of the oldest and most respected Japanese chemical companies. They have a well deserved reputation for supplying state-of-the-art materials for the manufacture of liquid crystal displays. SUNEVER materials are polyimide alignment layers designed to give stable high pre-tilt angles for TN, STN and AM-LCD's. The NHC range of inorganic hard coats are a series of silica or silica / titania based coatings designed to prevent short circuits between the upper and lower ITO electrodes in an LCD cell. The AC range of Planar Coatings are designed for to coat over color filters. The LR range of anti-reflective films provide very low reflectivity and low cure temperature. The SUNEVER range is completed by SE-812, an optically transparent polyimide which is used as an insulation layer, passivation coating or buffer coating for semiconductors.
Brewer Science offers processing materials that compliment other products within our portfolio. These materials are listed below:
APX-K1 adhesion promoter is an organo-silane coupling agent designed to provide outstanding adhesion of Brewer Science color filter materials to a variety of substrates including soda-lime glass, borosilicate glass and silicon. It is normally necessary to apply the adhesion promoter once only at the beginning of the process. Repeated application prior to each color layer is not required.
Brewer Science® SafeStrip™ is an organic solvent stripper designed to selectively remove photoresist from partly imidized polyamic acid films. It should be used in place of n-methyl pyrrolidinone (NMP) based strippers or acetone based strippers. NMP based materials will damage these materials when in the partly imidized state.
