The Alphabet Feelings Series provides teachers with a unique approach to education

The core of Brewer Science’s brand philosophy is that innovation begins with imagination, and imagination starts with opening your mind to new ideas, no matter your age, background, or skillset. Recognizing that a strong foundation in education is vital for the next generation of innovators, we are proud to support initiatives that empower both STEM and non-STEM learning. Our latest educational outreach includes a meaningful partnership with local author and educator Jennifer Albright, founder of  The Alphabet Feelings Series, a unique 26-book collection designed to foster social emotional literacy and early childhood reading engagement.

A Series Sparked by Experience, Fueled by Empathy

Jennifer Albright, a dedicated early childhood special education teacher, created the book series after identifying a significant gap in traditional children’s literature: a lack of tools that effectively support emotional development in a classroom setting. Each book in her series uses engaging

characters and storytelling to teach both alphabet familiarity and emotional intelligence, two fundamental building blocks in early education.

Titles like Angry Alligator introduce core concepts like emotional regulation through fun, animal-based stories. But what truly sets this series apart is its multi-layered approach to learning.

Visual letter integration: Hidden letters on every page encourage children to actively search, notice patterns, and reinforce phonetic recognition.

Interactive Q&A prompts: Found on the back of each book, these questions help assess reading comprehension and spark classroom dialogue. There are “WH” questions which are valuable for educators tracking progress on curriculum goals. Jennifer even created a series of free educator resources on her website, such as WH question data tracking sheets.

Narratives illustrated on the back covers: Enabling educators to read aloud while students view the pictures; this helps foster engagement and accessibility.

Student Engagement: Coloring sheets and stickers featuring characters from the books and integrating themes from the stories help students engage further with the concepts and topics.

Adaptive Educational Experience: While the reading level is between 2nd to 4th grade, the concept and lessons are applicable to students as young as 3 years old, as demonstrated in Jennifer’s early childhood special educational classroom.

Innovative Approach to Next-Gen Emotional Challenges

The Alphabet Feelings Series also tackles issues children face today that didn’t exist for previous generations. For example, in The Viral Vulture, a vulture obsessed with social media views learns that true value doesn’t come from likes or views, but from real-world impact such as volunteerism.

In Mindful Mouse, students learn the importance of being present by teaching mindfulness techniques like meditation to help reduce anxiety and improve attention in a fast-paced world filled with distractions.

These timely, relevant messages are rarely addressed in traditional children’s books. Jennifer saw this need and responded by creating stories that give children understanding and strategies to navigate the complex emotional landscape of today’s society.

“I’m incredibly thankful that Brewer Science saw the value in this project and chose to collaborate with me by purchasing and donating book sets to schools in Rolla, St. James, and surrounding communities. It brings me so much joy to know that students beyond my own classroom are now engaging with these stories, learning to understand their emotions, and growing as readers—all thanks to this generous and meaningful gesture.”

Brewer Science’s contributions did more than just put books in classrooms; it sparked a ripple effect of positive impact. Inspired by the support she received, Jennifer is now paying it forward by purchasing items from fellow teachers’ classroom wish lists. Her goal is to multiply the impact for educators while continuing to promote The Alphabet Feelings Series to a broader audience, helping even more students access tools for social emotional growth and literacy development.

Brewer Science: Investing in Education, Investing in Community

When Brewer Science learned about Jennifer’s mission, we saw an opportunity to invest in something bigger than books, we saw a chance to help build a more thoughtful, emotionally aware generation. As a company deeply rooted in innovation, we understand that breakthroughs don’t just come from technical knowledge, they come from empathy, curiosity, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively. Brewer Science’s Professional Development team has been internally implementing Emotional Intelligence training and social emotional development courses. By recognizing the impact emotional awareness has had on the success of our employee-owners, it became necessary to foster emotional awareness education into our community engagement as well.

“Thank you to the Phelps County Community Foundation for the donation of the A-Z feelings books.  With each book my students were excited for the next.  Having tools to help them relate to feelings and lean into social emotional learning in such a fun way made a big difference. They even survived a tornado in March and helped with our transition to a new school” – Dr. Jill Blue, Kindergarten Teacher, Rolla Public Schools

Supporting this initiative aligns with Brewer Science’s long-standing commitment to educational outreach. From sponsoring STEM robotics programs to donating materials to local classrooms, we’ve always believed that a strong educational foundation, whether in science, reading, or emotional development, is the cornerstone of progress.

That’s why Brewer Science proudly donated 430 sets of The Alphabet Feeling Series to area schools, including Belle, Owensville, Cuba, St. James, and other nearby schools.

Jennifer’s work also reflects the values we share at Brewer Science, particularly her commitment to inclusion. She collaborated with an illustrator diagnosed with autism, not just for representation, but to model for her students that neurodiversity and learning differences are strengths, not limitations. She reminds children that every person has a “superhero power” within them, waiting to be discovered and nurtured.

“Being diagnosed with autism should never set anyone back. Embrace your differences and find your superpower. I found my passion for art and enjoy sharing my artwork with others.” – Abel Medlin, 5th Grade Student, Illustrator of the Alphabet Feelings Series.

Building the Future, One Story at a Time

At Brewer Science, we believe our responsibility to the future doesn’t end at the edge of a wafer. It starts with supporting the people and programs that inspire tomorrow’s leaders, thinkers, and next-generation innovators.

The Alphabet Feelings Series is more than a set of books, it’s a movement toward more compassionate, connected classrooms. We’re honored to support her mission and look forward to seeing the lasting impact of these books in the communities and classrooms.
