How My Internship at Brewer Science Shows Me the Power of Teamwork and Innovation

By Wyatt Harris, Marketing Intern at Brewer Science

This past summer, I was given the opportunity to be a marketing intern with Brewer Science. Brewer Science is based in Rolla, Missouri, and is well known in the semiconductor and microelectronics industry. As a college undergraduate at Evangel University, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Marketing, I was seeking an opportunity that aligns with both of those fields. At Brewer Science, I found exactly that, along with so much more new information through team building and innovation.

Finding the Right Fit

The journey to finding this position all began with searching for various opportunities on LinkedIn. Shortly, I came across Brewer Science and did research about the company and was immediately intrigued by their highlights on both innovation and community involvement. After applying through LinkedIn, I was contacted by HR, went through multiple interviews, and was later offered a position as a Marketing Intern. I couldn’t have been more excited in the moment to receive this offer and join a company that clearly values both professional and personal growth.

A Workplace Culture Connected to Collaboration

One of the first things that I noticed when working at Brewer Science was the connection and flow of the Marketing team despite the hybrid approach. The word innovation is deeply rooted in the company’s culture. From public meetings to private strategic sessions, there is a vocally shared mindset about continuous improvement in each meeting. Whether it is about branding identity, marketing resources, or how to complete certain tasks more efficiently, there were constant innovation discussions.

There are also discussions centered around team-building initiatives such as the annual recycling event. This is where employees come together to support sustainability initiatives through the collection of appliances, tires, and electronics. This type of event showcases how Brewer Science supports team-building actions, as well as executing innovative ideas of how to not only better the company but also improve the environment. Brewer Science strongly emphasizes making a positive impact, together.

Learning by Doing

As a marketing intern, I am given the opportunity to attend virtual/in-person meetings, schedule social media posts and emails through HubSpot, and incorporate feedback from the marketing team for my social media graphics. One of my favorite parts of the internship was creating my podcast, Inside the Nest. This gave me the chance to start something from the ground up. The purpose behind this podcast was to gain a deeper understanding of employees through various departments concerning their roles, experiences, and personal contributions to Brewer Science. These conversations taught me how much team building and innovation are valued here.

For me, this internship provided a more hands-on experience than just any other internship. This internship at Brewer Science was a pivotal experience that deepened my understanding of teamwork, innovation, and meaningful community impact. From launching a podcast to engaging in internal collaboration on marketing strategies, I gained hands-on experience that will further shape my future career and aspirations. The workplace culture of constant improvement and support made every single project that I participate in feel purposeful.

If you are a student who is looking to grow both personally and professionally, I highly encourage you to explore the various opportunities that are offered here at Brewer Science.
