Benefits of being an eco-friendly business

Eco-friendly practices give your company more than just accreditation and a seal to share on letterhead and your company’s front door. Adhering to eco-friendly practices helps your company save money, reduce waste, and build a good reputation and helps your local community become more environmentally friendly. We’ve seen these benefits firsthand at Brewer Science.

Eco-friendly practices save money and reduce waste

One of the first eco-friendly practices we implemented was installing efficient water and electrical fixtures, which led to immediate savings on our energy costs. We also introduced a mini-bin recycling program that has allowed us to recycle nearly 538 tons of waste since its inception in 2002. The latest initiative is Big Blue.  This is our large outdoor trash compactor. Through a partnership with Covanta, Big Blue helps turn waste into energy.

In 2009, the federal government introduced a stimulus plan that provided incentives for companies to go green through tax credits, allowing you to save on more than just monthly bills. As environmentally friendly practices become more the norm, new legislation is passed each year to raise the standards. It’s smart to be proactive in your eco-friendly practices.

Eco-friendly practices help build a reputation

Implementing eco-friendly practices at your business lets the community know that you have a commitment to a better future and that your business is invested in the well-being of our environment. Such practices speak well not only about your business but also about the people you employ and products you produce. As the group of environmentally conscious consumers continues to grow, being eco-friendly is something that will help you attract and retain customers.

Eco-friendly practices help the local community

In addition to helping your business, you can also reach out to members in your local community to implement eco-friendly practices around the neighborhood. At Brewer Science, we have teamed up with a number of community organizations to help local neighborhoods properly dispose of waste. These organizations include:

  • City of Rolla
  • Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District
  • The Missouri Department of Natural Resources
  • Meramec Regional Planning Commission
  • Phelps County Commission

Over the last 11 years, we have provided communities with proper waste disposal collection of over 118,000 pounds of waste.

Brewer Science is committed to continuing our environmentally friendly efforts around the office and in the community. Learn how these practices align with our products and services by contacting us today.
